Peaches

Our Beloved Peaches

There will never be another like her 4-13-91 to 5-23-08

On a cold day she came and brought warmth to our hearts for 17 Christmas's

I remember when we got Peaches. We got her the youngest. Her little claws were little needles in my hand. There was something special about her from the beginning. She made herself extra comfortable in bed with us, cuddling up and purring loudly. And when you hugged her, you knew she loved it and didn't want to leave. I forged a bond with Peaches when she was a kitten and she brought me endless hours of "peace of mind". I've always been the flighty, nervous type and our other cats are like that. But with Peaches, it was ultimate calm. And all the other girls love to be with her, so Mary called her "Mama Peach," and also "Moey" or "Mojo." Whenever I returned home, I could always count on Peaches keeping my soft feather pillow warm. She was as soft as a pillow and when I was a long ways away, Mary would tell me that she was waiting for me on my pillow and I'd miss her. Then she'd put the phone to her ear and Peaches when I said hello, she'd make he familiar little response: "Wa-wa?" It sounded like a question, like she was asking: what are you doing or when will you be back. Because Peaches was all about love. She purred extra loud when Ashley, Softy, Ninny or Kellie kissed her(licked her face). Grandma for kellie And she was there waiting for me when I went to bed, plush and soft, and then the purring began, louder than you'd ever heard before. She was always there just above my pillow between Mary and I, purring, when I awoke every morning. Always too heavy, Peaches loved to eat, and helped herself to dry crunchy food quite often during the day. In the morning she'd wait patiently for her soft canned food. While "Ninny" cried and led the way to the kitchen, always checking to see if I was behind her, and even following me over to the counter where she stood beside me while I opened the can, But Peaches just waited patiently. After all the others had eaten a little and stepped away, Peaches would stay there and finish most of it up. She loved that canned cat food that smelled something like fish. Peaches was smart. You could see it in her quiet regard, the depth of her eyes, the sounds she made. She wasn't anxious to leave when she made herself comfortable somewhere. She'd lay on her back next to you and even after an hour, you'd never want to let her go, but eventually you went to sleep and woke up to another perfect day with the most perfect pet.
